I don't build bi-planes usually.. but I love Hawker's 30's bipes. This is the Aeroclub 1/48 Demon, in between mapping out my Pennine Walk and plotting all the aircraft wrecks on route I gradually progressed with this today getting the top wing on with a modicum of straightness. Now to build up the courage and energy to rig the bloody thing.

it is pretty though, thought I'd take a picture of it before it becomes a wreck itself! Actually this model has so far lead a charmed life, on two different occasions first a clamp, then a hammer fell off my peg board onto a shelf where the model was resting missing it by centimetres, I hope it's good fortune continues

Looks great so far mate. The rigging on biplanes still scares me. Good luck with it :)

All day it took..all the standing rigging is done, not gonna bother with the running rigging..I have had enough..I did it with stretched sprue.. now there is a pursuit that requires a "knack" I have yards of plastic "string" lying all over, quite hard getting a constant thickness.

This looks very nice, congratulations of getting the job done in a day. I don't do rigging these days because my eye sight and my nerves aren't up to it, but I do enjoy looking at the work of those who do go to the trouble.

If I ever give it a crack I'll be using EZ line :)

Nice job Wal.....what a pretty aeroplane.
I would love to be competent with rigging, (cause I got a few Qantas Bi-planes in the stash just waiting), but the idea of rigging scares the hell out of me.
You seem to have mastered it quiet nicely.

well not mastered, but I have learnt a bit from the experience. I have a few more bipes in the stash that might get a look in now...

not finished just put the decals on this morning, I could have done the RAAF option with this kit, but the markings were to bland for my taste, so I did the restored Pommy option. I have to dress up the prop, sort out the gunsight, put the windscreen on but i couldnt resist taking a picture

Guys - heard of EZ Line? Makes rigging easy - well, easier!

BTW, another lovely little model out of Wally's Little Aeroplane Factory!

Hi Adam, thanks.. yeah I read about EZ line and there are 2 distinct camps on the product... lovers and haters. I used stretched sprue to see if I could really LOL.. I didnt have any line and couldnt find a metallicised thread I bought ages ago for such a purpose. I reckon next time I will use monofilament fishing line
