I picked up this old Transport Wings Vacuformed Kit in the UK last year, this elegant triple tail finned aeroplane always tickled my fancy and I thought I'd give it a go after beating my Carvair project into submission.
The pics show the work done so far... the pieces being cut out of the sheet then wet sanded to shape and size on my sanding board. I was then able to offer up the parts to each other and detected an immediate problem... the wing to fuselage fairing points on the fuselage have would give the model a pronounced dihedral which the real aeroplane did not have, also the height of one fuselage side is slightly less than the other .. but this is probably due to a bit of distortion which should be easily fixed by putting in a central spine. The dihedral problem will require something more major.. I have a few options in mind.

I have a few spare vacuforms that you might like to have a go at Paul... How about a 1/72 Bison to go with a gaggle of your intercepting Phantoms?

Its already cut out of the plastic backing sheet..

just a bit of fabrication required, should be a piece of cake for a man who can fix a Beech or a Piper

then again I have this spare Broplan Piaggio you might prefer

Wally,
This looks like it is going to be an interesting build. I saw your post on Britmodeller asking about the landing gear doors but don't know how to post a photo there (I don't have an online photo account) so I am posting here instead. This is the landing gear obviously from a restoration but I cannot find the original site that these photos were posted.

There are also cutaway drawings on Flightglobal which you might find interesting:

I have the Welsh 1/144 kit in my stash so I tend to save photos like those above when I come across them as I am unlikely to find them again when I eventually get around to doing the kit.

Cheers,
Peter

Thanks Wal, that would be great. I don't have much else other than front and rear views of the main wheels (from the set above), a cutaway drawing (found today) and 3-view layout - along with a few general pictures found from searching the net.
Are you planning to do the Butler scheme for the plane?
Peter
