Welcome aboard, Lee! Looks a neat project. I have the Red Roo boxing of this kit, so I'll be interested to follow your progress and see how it goes together.

Welcome Lee!

I'm more into building little aerobatic and racer models plus some military stuff, but it appears I'm slowly being influenced by the "dark side" and have purchased my first airliner model project - a C-47 that will probably be in QANTAS markings. Really looking forward to seeing your build progress. Reg Ansett used to visit my old school to watch the footy on the weekends on occassion. We used to joke seeing cigarette smoke fog up his windows and waft out of his Cadillac in clouds. Poor ol' Reg got to watch a lot more school football after he was given the flick from his own company sadly. He was a great benefactor to my old school. I've been trying to hunt down Ansett decals for my proposed C-47 build and if successful will do a Ansett Dak if possible - if not it will be a QANTAS bird.

All the best with your DC-9 build!

Adam

Welcome Lee , great to have another airliner modeller on here . The Fly kit is the best DC-9 around apart from the Authentic Airliners offering . Look forward to it's progress.

G'day all firstly thanks for the welcome i appreciate it.
I made a start on the build with the wings i sanded the wing halves on some 180 grit paper to thin them out before joining the halves i also thinned the wing tips to more of an airfoil shape as they looked to square and thick then i scribed in the aileron trim tabs as none are on the kits ailerons then i added the trim tab actuator fairings on the ailerons / right side of the rudder / and the horizontal stab using Mr hobby instant cement based filler.

This filler is very good for filling large gaps and making different lumps and bumps found on a lot of different aircraft (also usefull apparently for giving female model kits breast enhancements according to the box pic) :|

Cheers Lee.
