Hey peeps. Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few weeks you'd know I went for a 1 1/2hr flight in a Tiger Moth whilst I was up in TSV. This 1/72 model of AMY will be given to the pilot and owner who took me on said awesome flight. Just to remind you lot what this gorgeous beauty looks like here she is

I'll be building a 1/32 scale version at a later date with mega detailing. Well that's the plan anyways 8-)

This is way smaller than I remember :lol:

I'll be doing this one outta the box with my usual Red Roo seatbelts and a bit of detailing. I've added a spar connector on the top wing from fine wire. The slats have been sanded off as they aren't fitted to this airframe. I've also modified the front cowl and opened some hole for more accuracy. I'll be adding a couple of the prominemt pushrod tubes inside the intake as well. I wasn't gonna rig it but had a rush of blood to the head and I'm now gonna be rigging her. I've got both EZ Line and invisible thread so I'll wait a bit longer to decide what I'll use. Got the cockpit together and the fuse closed up today. I also drilled all the rigging holes. I drilled all the way through the wings so I can cut the thread off flush with the wing and then touch up the paint afterwards. Does anyone know if you can paint EZ Line or invisible thread? It'll be easier to paint once rigged with less chance of screwing the paint job. I'll probably use Alclad for the silver and I've yet to paint match the blue. There'll only be 2 decals on it and that'll be the rego by DamoDecs. Anyways onto the pics

It's the new tool Airfix kit mate. Really enjoying it so far. I'm actually looking forward to rigging it. The good thing is that if I screw it up it's only a $12 kit

One day I will finish a model of the Mirage I flew in (almost 28 years ago!).

Are you going to put a scale 'you' in it?

Yeah Adam. I get them from Red Roo. They work really well and I've used them on heaps of builds. I'm looking forward to the rigging. We shall see if I'm that keen once I've done it

Good luck mate!

My only experience with rigging is on 1/32 and I have used etched "flying wires". I do know that it can have the same effects as rigging a real aeroplane in that you can "chase your tail". Too much tension on one wire and you risk the opposing wire getting too slack. That EZ Line can be good and I have used it for HF radio antennas in 1/48 with great success - may be too thick for 1/72 - don't know. EZ Line is elastic, so you end up with similar tensions for similar lengths.

No stress or pressure, but I few of us are watching with great interest to see how you go rigging this little beauty!

Adam, there are various 'gauges' of Eziline. I use it on all my 1/72 aircraft HF antennas. I believe there is also 1/350 thickness for ships.

Ray is correct. There is 'fine' and 'heavy' sizes. It just so happens I have a roll of of the fine in black so I reckon it'll be ok. It'll have to be cos shit that invisible thread is aptly named

I too have used it in HF wires and antennas and love it for that kind of thing. I had to stop myself from doing little bits and pieces detail wise as I need to get this done :lol:
