You'll all remember my last attempt at an airliner and how I swore I'd never do another.


Seems I am a sucker for punishment. Today a new 1/144 737-800 kit arrived and along with the decals I bought at Expo last month, I hope to put together an inflight version of this beauty. (Did I just say that?)


I want to display it in a banking climb, but am not quite sure the best way to mount it. Suggestions are appreciated.

I use a craft wood base and some acrylic rod for my 'flying' models Troy. The rod can be heated and bent

Troy, I can tell you a place in Canberra

But seriously try googling 'Acrylic rod supplies - Melbourne', I did and got this place:

You can get varying diameters, I use 3mm, 6mm and 12mm (6mm used in the pictures I provided) and the rod lengths are about 2m each. You are looking at around $5 - $10 a length which lasts quite a while.

Oh and I superglue the rod into the base.

Well you know the sander was actually used on the C-17 to sand down some automotive body filler around the wing/body fairing

The stand arrived yesterday, So I now have a good idea on how I'll mount it. Should get started on it this weekend.

Here is the tripod stand I got. Perfect for what I thought I'd need... for a bigger aircraft.


So I opened the 737 kit to try it out. I knew it would be smaller that the Airbus I did last year, but didn't know it would be that much smaller. Still I can make it work.


The legs do retract, so it doesn't look as bad, but I think I may actually go now with one of the stands I got from Mobius a while back, like the one I used on my ARDU mirage.

I am a bit annoyed. After waiting weeks to find one, I picked up a 1/144 737-800 HaribAir kit on eBay. No mention in the ad that the kit had been started or that it was missing any pieces. I open it up and the body and wings are off the Sprues and there is super glue sloppily applied to those parts. Anyway I sand them back clean them up and glue them all together. I then look in the box to get the clear sprue out, and it's not in there. Nothing, zip, nada. No I'm not annoyed, I'm a wee bit pissed off.

OK.....that's a pisser and I would be pretty annoyed too . Have you contacted the seller to ask why the f@#k he didn't see fit to mention any of these issues, (I know the sorta feedback he would be getting from me).
Not having the clear transparency piece for this particular kit can be a show-stopper, as it incorporates part of the upper fuselage crown, as well as the cockpit window panels. This would be very hard to replicate or substitute for with Miliput bog or alike.
Troy, I will go through all my Revell 737-800 kits to see if, by chance, any of them have a spare transparency piece, (this has been known to happen on occasion), in the mean time I would contact the seller, (if you haven't already), and ask him if he still has this vital piece.
